Dear Love,

Where do I find you?

Everyone talks about you

and mentions your sweetness

People transform. Mouths,

once used to frowning, inverts

They say colors are brighter.

Their senses, more vivid.

With such adornment, It’s hard for me

to not want to find you.

Yet, most compare you to a rose.

A rose is beautiful, they smell amazing.

But, I just can’t ignore the thorns on their stem

They poke and scratch

And evidently, I don’t need to look too far

to find examples of how love scars

Roses also don’t last forever

They wither away as they grow older

Do you also wither

away as you grow older?

Fairytales say love lasts forever.

Always the same happily ever after.

But, real life isn't a fairy tale after all.

Oh, love, you’re as beautiful as a dove.

Below or above?

Where do I find you, love?

Best,

a hopeless romantic
